Wheel Balancing using the CenTor Plate by Vibration Solutions. |
Wheels are made of thin steel or alloy, which flex as the lug nuts are tighten down and the wheel is mounted on the vehicle. It is vital to replicate this on the wheel balancer. Not doing so, will usually cause the balancer to call for the placement of the weight in the wrong location. The accuracy of the balancer itself has nothing to do with this issue, as no balancer can accurately pre-determine how the wheel is mounted onto the hub/shaft.
As much as 140 degrees weight placement inaccuracy has been verified on light trucks when using a cone by itself. This will cause a significant amount of |
 |
vibration and a shaking steering wheel, when driven a 70-100km/h (45-60 mph). At double that speed the vibration will be four times stronger.
Correct and even torque is directly proportional to the length tolerance of the CenTor ™ Stud as well as the Flatness of the CenTor™ Plate. One look at the front face of the CenTor™ Plate gives away our obsession with accuracy. The CenTor™ Studs have an average length tolerance of just ± 6 µm (0.000236”).

Our Metallight™ finish...Green Chrome |
|
This process is done on a "Special Order" basis which can take up to 6 weeks. In most cases we send your wheels out to have the Metallight Process applied. Additional costs do apply, Please (760) 757-7362 for details.
Our Metallight™ finish is a bright durable metallized coating. Harnessing insights into acrylics, urethane, metals and physical vapor deposition, we have developed a patent pending process that results in a metallized coating that is similar in appearance but more durable than plated chrome. |
|
With process temperatures less than 325°F, Metallight™ is ideal for critical cast alloys and electro coated substrates, as well as certain non-metallic materials. Designed against the toughest automotive OEM specifications, the Metallight™ system holds up against corrosion, thermal shock, and UV exposure. The Helios Coatings Inc. Metallight™ patent pending process is designed to meet current OEM wheel and exterior trim component specifications. |

| The development of our Metallight™ technology evolved from the requests of OEM’s to develop a durable, cost effective and an environmentally sensitive alternative to the physically hazardous, environmentally harsh and expensive hexavalent chrome plating process. Several OEM’s, most notably the DaimlerChrysler Corporation, have discontinued the use of hexavalent chrome on their vehicles (although dealers have the option to install chrome wheels at the dealerships). The Ford Motor Company as well as General Motors stated in 2002 that it is their goal, beginning with the 2007 model year, that all processes utilized in the build-out of their vehicles shall be from environmentally friendly (“Green”) processes. This edict follows a very strict “Green” component requirement in addition to standards set by the European Union governments over the last decade regarding environmental pollutants and hazardous wastes. Our Metallight™ process meets the demanding coating durability requirements of these OEM’s. |
